“what are they doing with $270k” is probably the dumbest question you could ask. even without looking at their budget, ao3 is a huge nonprofit website that millions of people access in a single day. probably at the same time as well. there’s tons of data and variables and complex coding involved, what the fuck do you think they’re doing with the money oh my god
hookers and blow, obviously
reblog to increase the hookers and blow budget for the AO3 moderators

“BUT WE CAN’T USE VIOLENCE!!” are you fucking kidding me??
Many people are surprised some leftists, such as myself, favor non-violent revolution. Obviously, if we must live in this capitalist hellscape, it’s time to turn the system against the elites. IMO, that can be done without resorting to violence, which has been historically committed against us. History also shows how powerful non-violence can be in many forms like civil disobedience, boycotts, marches, general strikes, etc. These measures haven’t been exhausted yet…not even close. In fact, many social movement researchers find that non-violent means are more successful than violent approaches. Perhaps that’s because it’s something we can do every single day and is more supported by the masses who will absolutely be needed for any revolution to be successful.
It should go without saying that violently combatting the world’s largest police and military state is not a more feasible approach. I’m wary of strategies that naïvely suggest otherwise. I fear this is a miss for some leftists who laugh off even the idea of non-violence as an effective strategy. It’s significantly harder to convince the masses to take up arms with minimal resources, zero training, or even an interest in that. Never mind that it contradicts much of what we are fighting for (see: leftist view of the death penalty, restorative justice, education, etc.). Obviously if all else fails, take this approach. But I don’t think we’ve reached that point.
